Этот показатель часто применяется к количественным сторонам развития экономики: сравнивают в годовом выражении уровни ВВП, объемы промышленного производства, торговли и др. Следует, однако, учитывать, что оценивать рост непосредственно в годовом выражении (или исчислении) не корректно. Во-первых, надо проверить, какова была ситуация в марте прошлого года; при низкой базе, то есть, если в этот месяц показатель был ниже нормы, рост в годовом выражении кажется завышенным, и наоборот. Во-вторых, обычно показатели «очищают» на сезонный и календарный факторы. В первом случае, речь идет о типичном для ряда лет повышении или снижении производства в те или иные месяцы (особенно это касается сельского хозяйства и строительства, см. также Колебания производства, Сезонные колебания); во втором – о количестве рабочих дней в сравниваемых месяцах.
